Mail Bonding with Riera Studio

We are so excited to finally share a project we’ve working on for the last few months. MAIL BONDING is a collaboration by Submit to Love and the brilliant Riera Studio in Cuba. Funded by the British Council and Unlimited as part of their Micro Awards, the partnership was designed to support artists to find new ways to connect and share during uncertain times.

Separated by a vast ocean, and looking to get away from the screens we’ve been glued to for the past year, we decided to explore a more traditional way of staying in touch - post. The result was a creative deep dive into culture, history, and national pride. We also experienced the downside of mail in the process - lost parcels!

Our finished piece is a film capturing not only the works created by the artists of both studios, but the friendships and bonds created along the way:

“We’ve got a common language in the art of our stamps .”
— Submit to Love artist Billy

Though not the central focus of MAIL BONDING, the works created by both studios over the course of the collaboration were too good not to share separately! Click on each of the works below to see some of them in full:

A huge thank you to Unlimited and the British Council for their support of a first class project!
